Winter is our favorite season in South Lake Tahoe. Our guided winter tours take you away from the crowded slopes and into quiet, snowy forests with big lake and mountain views. Snowshoe season starts as soon as there is enough snow on the ground, usually around mid-December. Until then, our electric dirt bike tours and guided hikes keep running.
- Snowshoe tours: if you can walk, you can snowshoe. Pick the Scenic Snowshoe Tour (2 hours, from $110), the Half-Day Snowshoe Tour (3.5 hours, $225), the Sunset Snowshoe Tour (from $150), the Starlight Snowshoe Tour under the stars ($200), or a Private Snowshoe Tour for just your group, dogs welcome ($200 per person). Snowshoes, poles and a quick lesson are included.
- Private Sledding Tour: safe, avalanche-free sledding and tubing spots away from the busy public hills, with sleds, snow tubes and hot chocolate. Great for families, ages 1 and up, $85 per person.
- Backcountry Ski & Snowboard Tours: guided ski, snowboard and splitboard tours for experienced riders, ages 14 and up, from $350 per person.

When are snowshoe tours open?
As soon as there’s enough snow on the ground, usually around mid-December. They keep running as long as the snow lasts, sometimes into June. Until the snow arrives, our electric dirt bike tours and guided hikes are running.
Do you offer electric dirt bike tours in the winter?
Yes, as long as there is less than 2 feet of snow at base level.
I've never snowshoed. Is that OK?
Absolutely. First-timers are welcome, and your guide shows you how it works before you head out. If you can walk, you can snowshoe.
How old do kids need to be?
It depends on the tour. Sledding is for ages 1 and up, group snowshoe tours are 8 and up, and private snowshoe tours have no minimum age. Backcountry ski and snowboard tours are 14 and up, and electric dirt bike riders need to be 15.5 or older.
What should I wear?
Snow boots, hiking boots or water-resistant athletic shoes (no heeled boots). Dress in warm layers, but skip cotton. A ski or snowboard jacket and snow pants are perfect. Bring a hat, sunglasses, gloves, sunscreen and at least 16 oz of water.
Where do we meet?
Snowshoe, sledding and backcountry tours meet your guide at a trailhead in the South Lake Tahoe area. Electric dirt bike tours meet at our Tahoe Valley Campground location, 1175 Melba Dr. Your booking confirmation has the details.
