OVERVIEW – STARLIGHT SNOWSHOE
Activity Level: Moderate Duration: 2 Hours Minimum Age: 8 Years Old Price: $200
Explore the backcountry of South Lake Tahoe by starlight!
The Starlight Snowshoe Tour is a guided evening hike on snowshoes through quiet, snow-covered forest. Your guide knows the area and the best routes, and shares stories about the wildlife, history and nature along the way. Snowshoeing is easy to learn, so first-timers are welcome. Hiking under a sky full of stars adds to the magic, and your guide brings a telescope and sets it up so you can stargaze along the way.
The tour may include a hot chocolate break with time for snacks and photos. It usually takes about 2 hours, depending on the location and the group.
Questions Guests Ask
I've never snowshoed. Is that OK?
Not at all. First-timers are welcome, and your guide shows you how it works before you head out. If you can walk, you can snowshoe.
Can kids come?
Yes, snowshoers 8 and up are welcome.
What should I wear?
Snow boots, hiking boots or water-resistant athletic shoes (no heeled boots). Dress in warm layers, but skip cotton. A ski or snowboard jacket and snow pants are perfect. Bring a hat, sunglasses, gloves, sunscreen and at least 16 oz of water. Nights are cold, so bring an extra warm layer.
When does snowshoe season start?
As soon as there’s enough snow on the ground. That’s usually around mid-December. Until then, our electric dirt bike tours and guided hikes are running.
Where do we meet?
You’ll meet your guide at the trailhead. All of our tours start within 20 minutes of the Stateline casino area, and parking is easy. Your booking confirmation has the details.
